Ok so we went with The Country inn It is beautiful!! We were so impressed, she showed us pictures of the time of year when we would be there. It is so lush and green. We changed the date as well. April 30, 2011. I know I know it is so far off, but we wanted everyone to have plenty of time to plan. Plus we want Ava to be old enough not to flip out when we go on our honeymoon. (OH yeah I need to get our passports!)
We have crunched the numbers and with the prices at the country inn we can do the catering, venue, tables, dishes and linens, food, beverages and decorations on $3400! Which is pretty damn amazing. Of course since we are having it in April we get a 25% discount (go go non peak season weddings!)
We are looking at menus (not that we need to decide anytime soon but...) there will be delicious prime rib! Awww yeah.
I am really diving into this and am starting to get some great ideas of what I really want for our day. (I hate the idea of "It is the bride's day") I am sure I will need some helps from my wonderful friends with ideas... hint hint!

Today was FREE day!
I went to the wedding gallery/showcase place. It was awesome. She loaded up my arms with business cards, fliers, magazines, local guides, you name it, I got it! She gave me tea and talked with me about what I want and my budget (I don't feel comfortable discussing my budget because *I* want to decide where corners will be cut, if they are cut at all!)
All of the information was free. When I got home I was shocked because I got 7 full size magazines about getting married in Oregon and the Pacific NW. I got 2 guides just for the Willamette Valley. Plus a 3 inch stack of business cards. It is a lot of information! I wish I had someone to go over it with me...Oh wait! I do! My wedding planner!
Her name is Christine, and her price is free. She went to school for wedding planning and just graduated, she needs to build up her portfolio and asked that in return for her services we let her use a picture of our wedding and if I am happy I will write a referral. Holy shit!!! YES!!!
I know she just graduated but she has more knowledge than I do and this will help both of us out. Win-Win.
I found my wedding favors. Usually I think those are so stupid, I had a pot of honey that said "Our love is sweeter than honey" Fucking gag me! I have also had crappy bubbles wrapped in tulle. Yeah...no thanks. BUT I found something awesome! I am going to personalize a Jones Soda label for us. We get to put our picture and a little bit of text and then pick flavors. I figured that would be fun. Not only do I get sodas with my face on them but it is something people can enjoy (and then recycle)
I am looking at music. I want to walk down the aisle to a cello. Luckily I know a guy... Well sorta. My BFF has a nephew who plays cello and his favorite movie is star wars. He knows the Imperial March music. I am going to approach Travis tonight about having me walk to that, but at a much slower tempo so people will think they know it, but won't be sure. hehehe

Saturday!
We are touring a place called the Country Inn. It looks great, but I have been fooled before.
I talked to the lady today and it will cost $50-$80 a head. Which is GREAT! That includes everything but the cake, flowers and photography.
I am heading to a wedding shop this week to try on the dress of the week. Tomorrow I am headed to "Bliss" which is a "wedding artist showcase" which honestly I don't care about that but they have loads of free magazines. Oregon Bride, Pacific NW Weddings, etc. That is good because we are looking to have the food be local. We are hoping to show our guests a bit of the PacNW flavor.
We are also thinking about changing the wedding date. A lot of our guests will be out of towners with kids. You can't pull a kid from school just for a wedding. Hopefully Mayish...I just don't want a "summer" wedding. I want spring.
By the way...Ava starts school again tomorrow! WOOO! I now see why the rhyme goes "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage." it is impossible to go to a wedding shop with a child.
We went to a florist. Ava was tired, and hot and grumpy (my fault I shouldn't have taken her) and she broke a little teapot. The lady wouldn't take money for it but she said "Just go" Whoops! Sorry! Although she just went into the "NO" pile.

Oh yes my friends....
It is here... The Travis and Amanda wedding planning blog!
4 years in the making!
We set a date.
April 17, 2011
A mere 637 days away! Start saving.
I can see how girls become that crazy bridezilla (we know that will NEVER happen to me. Right? .... guys?) There is SO much to do! Invites, venues, the dress, flowers, catering! AHHHH!
I am going to keep this blog up as a way to document the craziness that will happen in the near future. We have already gone through 2 venues and 3 dresses hahaha
First venue...Dancing Deer Mountain was a bust. Beautiful pictures right? It was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone and when I did she acted like I should KNOW they don't open their doors until May 1. Perhaps that is good info for your WEBSITE!!!
Second... Imagination Gardens (What is with these names people? I have to write this crap on my invitations!!) We visited there today. YEESH! The ceremony place was 10 feet away from a busy highway. All of the beautiful statues were shoved into an area that was less than 100 yards long. There was a rusted out car and a trailer in the background. NO THANK YOU!
I tried on dresses last week. Fell in love with one and have already ditched the idea. I found a new one today. I won't bother sharing it until it has been "the dress" for more than a day.
What I am really hoping for is not a huge deal. I don't want people walking away saying it was "the best cake I have ever eaten" I want them to walk away and know that we are in love. This is about us, not the actual party. We started our lives together years ago. This will just be the "icing on the cake"
BTW....if my cake looks like this, I will end someone's cake decorating career! (scroll down it is the second picture)
i look forward to all of your advice (read-HELP ME!)
